This payment is made to SLP Community Ed through Mary Magle. You can contact her or register online at slpcommunityed.com. Registrations must be completed right away. The following info applies to competitive swimmers only. USSSI registrations All swimmers should now be registered with USSSI and $5 local association fees handed in to a coach. If you have not completed this yet, please do so right away. We cannot register you for any meet until your USSSI registration is completed. St. Paul Stars routine/figure meet (February 5-6) Please remember that meet entry fees are due by Monday, January 18. Entries are $30 per swimmer. Please make checks payable to MN Aquafins and include the swimmer's name in the memo. The meet will take place at Humboldt Sr. High School (30 East Baker St., St. Paul, MN 55107). Friday is figures only and swimmers must be at the pool by 5:30. Remember all swimmers must wear a black suit and white cap for figures. No nail polish or jewelry. Routines will run on Saturday. Trios will be first and begin with warm-ups at 7:30, followed by duets, solos and teams (in that order). The meet is scheduled to be completed around 3:00. Please note that synchro meets are hard to time out exactly and can easily get ahead or behind schedule. Association Meet (February 27-28) We are finalizing details for the Association Championship Meet held at our pool on Feb. 27-28. The meet will run for most of Saturday and Sunday (running no later than 7:00pm either day). We need to know right away if you foresee any conflicts. Also, please watch for more emails in the next few weeks, including a call for volunteers to work various jobs during the meet. As the hosting team, we will need as much support as possible to make the meet run smoothly and on time.
Upcoming Meets
In earlier emails we asked you to save the date for a Jan. 22 figure meet. We've decided that we will probably not be attending this meet. We talked to the swimmers last night about using that time instead for practice and possibly doing a mock figure meet at the pool. This will save money and allow us more time to focus on improving both routines and figures. Please let us know if you have any concerns with this decision. We will need to let the hosting team know our plans by this weekend. The second meet is Feb. 5-6. This is a routine and figure meet. The meet cost is $20 with an additional coaching fee added by SLP Community Ed. Once we know the final total we will send an email. In the meantime, please be sure to keep this meet in mind as you plan out the next few months. Routine and Figure Suits Swimmers should be starting to think about their routine suits and headpieces. February will come fast. They should coordinate this with their teammates and parents. We do not handle arrangements for routine suits. If you'd like email address information for your daughter's teammates please let us know. Swimmers will also need a plain black suit and white swim cap for figures. USSSI Registrations We will be sending out a reminder this weekend to those of you who are not yet current with USSSI. This is required for every competitive swimmer and can be completed online at usasynchro.org. In addition to the $65 fee paid online, you will need to turn in $5 for the local association fee. Cash or check (made out to MN Aquafins) is fine. Memberships need to be completed by January 1. No Practice Please remember we do not have practice this Thursday, Dec. 24 or the next, Dec. 31. All other practices will be held as scheduled, weather permitting. With a winter storm approaching, please check your emails regarding practice this Saturday. Please let us know if you have any questions. Thank you! Aquafins coaches
Holiday practice schedule
No practice December 24 or 31. All other practices are running as scheduled.
Saturday practice - 12/5/09
We will begin our new 11:00-2:00 Saturday practice schedule on December 5. This means that all swimmers should arrive at the pool at 11:00 and work with their routine-mates on decking and writing until noon. All swimmers are expected to be back in the pool area at noon for our regular practice of 12:00-2:00. During the pool time we will rotate between workout, routines and figures. A coach will be available during that 11-12 hour to help with writing or decking, but we need swimmers to be focused and self-directed to use this time efficiently! Our goal is to have all routines completely written by the new year.

(You'll need a PC or Intel-based Mac.) There were some very creative and extremely difficult routines. Be sure to check out the Russian duet and team - both won Gold! |
